Florida Children's Hospital is a hospital within a hospital, offering all of the advantages of Central Florida's most preferred medical center within a special healing environment designed just for children. Pediatrics is a special place that requires very special nurses. That's why we designed an internship for recent nurse graduates who are interested in this field.

Our 12-week internship includes didactic and clinical time with a primary preceptor. Successful interns must complete orientation competencies specific to pediatric areas. By the conclusion of the program, you must demonstrate clinical competence providing patient care to a full patient assignment as evidenced by:

  • Direct care and collaboration with other health care team members
  • Medication administration
  • Documentation
  • Clinical decision making

As a Pediatric Nurse Intern, you'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, family counselors, childlife specialists, and other health care professionals to restore each child to the highest possible level of health. Our pediatric departments include:

  • Children's Emergency Center - The only pediatric center in Central Florida
  • Pediatric/Adolescent Rehabilitation - A comprehensive, family-centered program
  • Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplants - Central Florida's only provider
  • Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases - Part of the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute
  • 20-bed Level I Pediatric Intensive Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit - The highest level of critical care available for children
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - The highest level of care available for premature babies and those born with health problems
  • 38-bed Pediatric Unit - Provides care for patients from early infancy through adolescence with medical/surgical and hematological/oncology conditions
