Operating Room Nurse Internship Program

Each year, more than 50,000 surgeries are performed across Florida Hospital's seven campuses and key to each successful surgery isn't just a highly skilled surgeon; it's also our extraordinary team of perioperative nurses. If you're a recent nurse graduate who enjoys technology and believes the OR setting is the place for you, then our Operating Room Nurse Internship is an ideal match.

Our five-month program is designed to give nurses didactic and clinical training in the perioperative setting. While rotating through the variety of surgical services we provide, your internship experience will include:

• Training for the three phases of the perioperative process - pre-operative, intraoperative and transition into the post-operative phase of surgery
• Learning the roles of circulator and scrub nurse
  
  

Upon completion, you will possess and demonstrate:

• An understanding of surgical asepsis
• Creating and maintaining a sterile environment
• Caring for the surgical patient through all phases of the surgical process

Outpatient Surgery

• Comprehensive outpatient surgical services, including general, plastic, ophthalmology, cataract removal, trabeculectomy, muscle resection, gynecology, podiatry, dental and ENT

Pain Medicine

• Nerve block procedures, pharmacologic management, implantation and management of spinal cord stimulators and morphine pumps

As an OR Nurse Intern, you may work at one of our Central Florida locations, including:

• Florida Hospital Orlando - Two floors of surgery, including open-heart suites
• Florida Hospital Altamonte - Six operating suits and free-standing outpatient surgery unit
• Florida Hospital Celebration Health - Six operating suites and the ability to broadcast surgery anywhere in the world
• Florida Hospital East Orlando - Four ORs with expansion plans for the near future
• Florida Hospital Kissimmee - Four general ORs
• Florida Hospital Winter Park - 14 Surgical Suites
