Advancement and Education

The Respiratory Therapy Department provides professional, individual patient care. As a new therapist, you'll receive an extensive orientation that includes a review of clinical practice and theory behind respiratory procedures, such as use of oxygen equipment, treatment modalities, suctioning and intubation.

You'll also enjoy the fact that every therapist has advancement opportunities, as they become more proficient practitioners. With additional training and experience, therapists can become advanced critical care (adult/neonatal/pediatric) practitioners or advance to management or education positions.

Moreover, our department offers a wide variety of educational opportunities. Numerous continuing education programs are offered on campus each year. Additionally, off-campus respiratory therapy education is offered at three Orlando-area institutions, including Seminole Community College, Valencia Community College and the University of Central Florida.

The Respiratory Therapy Department holds clinical affiliations with the University of Central Florida, Valencia Community College, Seminole Community College and Kettering College of Medical Arts in Kettering, Ohio.
