The Florida Hospital Paid Days Off (PDOs) Plan is a program designed to let you, the associate, enjoy time off from work and still get paid. The PDO program varies for full-time and part-time employees. PDOs are available for eligible employees of Florida Hospital. Every pay period (after your first 90 days of employment) you will note accrued PDOs on your paycheck stub. Full-time employees are required to take time off each year. After you've been working at Florida Hospital for 90 days, you're eligible to take time off and receive for it. (Before the 90 days, you may take approved time off, but your PDO money will not compensate you.) For every paycheck that does not reflect your scheduled hours, money will be drawn from your PDO account to makeup the difference. If a full-time employee doesn't use the required 136 hours each payroll year, those hours will be forfeited. (The amount is pro-rated for your first year of employment.) Since part-time employees do not put in 80 hours every pay period, when you need time off and would like to get paid for it, simply use a payroll adjustment form, which is available in your department. Part-time employees are not required to take time off each year. One of the nicest things about your PDO plan is that it doesn't matter why you need the time off. You could be sick or vacationing and either one counts as the same thing, a day missed from work. The PDO plan allows eligible employees to use their time off for virtually anything as long as a manager or supervisor approves the time. This time will be compensated from your PDO fund when you have accrued funds to cover it in your account. Q: What is the Reserve Account?A: Here's how the time off reserve account works; you may select between 0 and 480 hours each year that you would like to save in your reserve account. By designating these hours you are asking that this amount will not be cashed out to you at the end of the year. Instead, these reserved hours will roll over to the next payroll year. Money will still be drawn from your PDO account and paid to you for your time off. But when you have reached your required time off and still have money that is accrued and unused you may carry it over to the following year. Once it is set aside and reserved, it is for time off only and can no longer be cashed out to you. This option is not available for part-time employees. At the end of the
year, your money is automatically paid out to you. Q: Why has the percentage accrual changed on my paycheck stub?A: You have been accruing time off since your first day of work or when you became eligible, but the percentage of your accrual changes. Eligible employees begin accruing at 8%. This percentage increases according to the length of time you are employed at Florida Hospital. See the following accrual rate chart.
Remember that these percentages are accrued on your base rate and do not include shift differentials or overtime, and that your accrual increases based on worked hours, not your hire date. Q: How does this work with jury duty?A: PDO does not apply to days when you have jury duty. As a reward for being a responsible citizen, Florida Hospital will pay you for the time you spend as a juror if it is a scheduled workday. This money is paid by Florida Hospital and does not come from your PDO account. You will be paid at your base rate, without compensation for shift differentials or overtime. Q: What if I leave Florida Hospital?A: Should your employment with Florida Hospital end, you will be paid the remaining balance of your PDO account and your time off reserve account. Employees who resign after providing proper notice to the hospital, will receive all current PDO benefits. PDO may not be used in lieu of notice of resignation, or after notice is provided to the hospital. Florida Hospital's PDO plan gives employees the flexibility that they need to mange their time effectively. It is a flexible plan that allows you to use time off as you need it for sickness, vacation, holidays and bereavement. The longer you are with Florida Hospital, the more time off you accrue and you can either have the money cash out at the end of the year or have it roll over to the next year. Our plan is designed to work for you in the most effective way possible. |
